All cars donated to fiXit are repurposed so that we can create employment pathways for young people.

We assess each car donation and to determine the best use of it for the needs of the program and to bring the most benefit for the young people. Some cars become training vehicles within Hand Brake Turn and fiXit. In other cases, Concern Australia facilitates the sale of the vehicle to young people, families and members of the wider community. Sometimes the best option is to recycle parts or realise scrap value.

Whatever happens to your car, all car donations are tax deductable but please note that a tax receipt can only be issued once your car has been sold/recycled for the realised value of the car. The length of time can depend on how the car is repurposed and so can vary a great deal. Income generated from repurposed cars can vary and depends on many factors, so please note that we cannot estimate or guarantee the likely amount of your tax receipt.

Suitable donation vehicles need to meet certain criteria before we can accept them, most questions about donation vehicles are answered in our FAQs below.

If your car meets the donation criteria, we will arrange for it to be picked up and transported to our Sunshine West site. Donors can also bring their cars to our Sunshine West or Dandenong workshops by prior arrangement.

To donate your car, please click the Donate a Car button and complete the form, or contact the fiXit team on 0452 249 461 or fixit@concernaustralia.org.au

When donating a car, the main criteria is to ensure there is no financing owing on the vehicle. We accept cars that are in any condition, from general wear and tear to damaged and missing parts as long as the vehicle is mobile. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Besides cars, we also accept vans, motorbikes, tools, and other resources to support our program and community. For further enquires please contact our friendly staff.

The cars can be dropped off at our Dandenong or Sunshine West sites or you can arrange for your car to be picked up by a staff member. Please check our website for contact and address details.

Yes, we can organise for one of our staff members to pick up your car at a time that is suitable for you. In the process, you will also get to meet the young people in action as they often accompany our staff while picking up cars as a learning experience.

No – your car does not have to be registered. If it is, we can remove the number plates, and you can return them to VicRoads for a refund of the balance of registration.

Concern Australia facilitates the sale of the cars, and the ownership passes from the donor to the new owner of the car. The proceeds of sale are treated like any charitable donation, attracting a DGR receipt and so Concern Australia can use the funds to provide employment pathways and support to at-risk youth.

Prior to donating your car, please ensure that the vehicle does not have finance owing. If that is the case, unfortunately we will not be able to accept it.
